Nabi Fuming After Chiefs’ 2-0 Loss to Polokwane City
Coach Nasreddine Nabi is unhappy following Kaizer Chiefs’ defeat to Polokwane City on Sunday, 8 December.
Playing at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, Chiefs – despite their 66% possession of the ball – failed to capitalise on multiple opportunities.
With goals from winger Oswin Appollis in the 17th minute and forward Mokibelo Ramabu in the 90th minute, Polokwane triumphed 2-0 over their visitors.
The victory marks Amakhosi’s third defeat in the Betway Premiership this season, while Polokwane City have climbed to third place in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings with 17 points.
In a post-match interview, Nabi attributed his team’s defeat to the officiating. He pointed out an incident where Chiefs left-back, Bradley Cross, was injured after a challenge by Polokwane’s Thabang Matuludi, who did not receive a red card for the foul.
“On television, I talked to the PSL to please analyse our situation,” the 59-year-old Tunisian coach angrily explained. “We should have had two penalties, and I think my left-back Cross is [sidelined for two months] and there was no red card. It is unacceptable.
“I respect the referees, but give me the respect that I deserve, because even the first rule for referees from FIFA is to protect the players,” he added.
